April 21, 2022 is the fifty-seventh day since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The capital has been abandoned by 90% of the civilian population. The streets are blocked by the ruins of buildings, vehicles, and concrete walls. Hospitals are overcrowded. Rolf Holmbo, Head of EUAM Ukraine, speaking to Mike de Peyrac:
«In the «big seven» of antiquity, grapes are ranked third after wheat and barley. Our great-grandfather Noah took up viticulture right after the flood. King Melchizedek of Salem brought out bread and wine to meet Abraham, who returned with prisoners captured from four eastern kings. Old Isaac blesses his son with bread and wine and game. At all times, the culture of viticulture has required many years of labor and long-term care. The state of the vineyards was an indicator of the development of the state and the well-being of its people. Old vines were especially honored, forming gazebos where the owners rested and received guests. In the book of Micah, the expression: «to sit under your vineyard and under your fig tree» means peace and tranquility. The figurative vision of the vineyard work through the eyes of Jesus Christ as an act of spiritual purification and revival takes on a new, covenantal awareness: «I am the true vine, and my Father is the vineyard. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he cuts off, but every branch that does bear fruit he purges it so that it may bear more abundantly» (John 15:1,2).

Wherever winemaking existed, the grape harvest turned into a festive ritual with songs, merriment, dancing, and mating of young people. This was how the circle of agricultural labor was completed.»
Do you know of a winery in Ukraine that is associated with this description?
I have in mind one winery that can put us in a time machine today and send us back to the era of antiquity, where grape fruits were in unison with nature. This is the BIOLOGIST organic wine winery, a symbol of a new era in Ukrainian winemaking. Its engagement in sustainable development and natural production reflects the true essence of modern winemaking, where taste and quality are balanced exclusively with nature and care for the environment. This is a wine that not only touches the taste buds, but also leaves an unforgettable impression of the importance of natural values in every glass.

Let's do a little experiment: "I'll take my assistant, we'll dress in ordinary civilian clothes, take an old busted-up Ford and go to visit winemaker Igor Petrenko" - we're curious about the quality of wine that will be sold to us, "ordinary people". Upon arrival at the winery, where de Peyrak met Ihor Petrenko, he bought three cases of the branded wine and headed to the center of Kyiv.

It should be noted that the same evening, the Head of EUAM and Mike de Peyrac went on a fascinating ancient journey with the help of the «time machine»… In addition, «the time machine did not use all the fuel: out of three boxes of wine purchased, 1 box of 6 bottles was preserved». So, you, can lead an expedition to the era of antiquity today. Details by phone: +380937315777 (WhatsApp Business) or Email: lusyswine@gmail.com
